FOR CHILDREN

Our specialty programs for children offer a variety of engaging and skill-building activities. Kids can explore their creativity through music and art-based programs, develop essential life skills in our cooking class, and expand their knowledge with fun, interactive educational programs. These programs are designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and nurture growth in a supportive and fun environment.

  • Cooking Classes

    Children Ages 5-8

    BGC West Scarborough offers cooking programs for children in our community. Over the course of 10 weeks participants learn how to make various dishes from across the world!

  • Dance Classes

    Children Ages 4-8

    Young children wanting to learn how to dance look no further than BGC West Scarborough's dance program! Programs run for 10 weeks ending in a recital where participants showcase their routines.

  • Jr NBA

    Children Ages 4-8

    The 12–Session program allows young children with an interest in basketball to learn fundamental skills through fun, engaging, tailor-made games and activities. Participants also learn essential life skills including leadership, sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect.

  • Kid Tech Nation

    Children Ages 7-12

    Kid Tech Nation teaches children digital skills, coding concepts, and creative technology use. Utilizing platforms such as Scratch, Piskel, and Soundtrap, participants learn everything from coding to music production, fostering a dynamic learning environment that combines fun and educational experiences.

  • Power Up

    Children Ages 6-12

    Power Up is an academic support program that helps kids develop positive study habits and practices at school, and encourages a life-long interest in learning. Participants are given the tools and environment necessary to set and plan for academic goals, and are helped along the way by volunteer tutors and mentors.

  • Guitar Lessons

    Partnered Program

    Guitars Not Guns Canadahas been rocking out with Toronto's at-risk youth since 2006! In just twelve fun-filled sessions, students get their own guitar, learn the basics, and show off their skills in a community concert. Best part? They keep the guitar and leave with boosted confidence and a sense of pride!

FOR YOUTH

    Youth Ages 13-21

    BGC West Scarborough offers cooking programs for youth in our community. Over the course of 10 weeks participants learn how to make various dishes from across the world! Our older cohort enjoys a more hands-on approach and also delve into the realm of culinary creativity by preparing additional side dishes.

  • Learn On

    Youth Ages 13-21

    Learn On is an academic support program that aims to address educational disparities, boost academic opportunities, and aid in the transition to adulthood through Clubs. The program offers activities and resources in three main areas: Academic Support, Transitional Support, and Social-Emotional Wellbeing. Participants benefit from increased confidence in completing high school, enhanced engagement in learning, improved resilience against obstacles, smoother transitions between grades and life stages, informed career and post-secondary decisions, and better access to supportive resources.

Our youth specialty programs are tailored to provide teens with valuable experiences and opportunities for growth. Whether learning to cook in our youth cooking class, engaging in hands-on educational programs, or exploring other unique activities, participants can build skills and discover their passions in a dynamic and inclusive setting.
