Last week, WSNCC was proud to help plan the Scarborough Southwest Candidates Forum, held at Birchcliff Bluffs United Church and organized by @dailybreadto. 🗳️💚 This election matters for our community, and we wanted to make sure West Scarborough residents had the information they need to make an informed choice. Thanks to SUN (Scarborough United Neighbourhoods), we have platform information for each of the major candidates who attended and answered, as it relates to Scarborough Southwest. WSNCC operates on land that is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands. We also acknowledge all Treaty peoples – including those who came here as settlers – as migrants either in this generation or in generations past and those who came here involuntarily, particularly as a result of the trans-Atlantic slave trade.
