This week is National Volunteer Week and we couldn’t let it pass without taking a moment to celebrate the people who make WSNCC and BGC West Scarborough what they are. 💚 Our volunteers show up behind the scenes, directly with our members, and everywhere in between. They give their time, their energy, and their heart to this community and with an impact that cannot be overstated. 🤝 Simply put, we couldn’t do this work without you. Last Friday was OD Day at WSNCC and as you can probably tell from these photos, we had a great time. 📸💚 OD Day is when staff across all our divisions come together for a day of group training. This year we were treated to incredible presentations on de-escalation from @paragonsecurity and our very own new Mental Health Worker, Toby. Safe to say we walked away better equipped and ready to do some great work. WSNCC operates on land that is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands. We also acknowledge all Treaty peoples – including those who came here as settlers – as migrants either in this generation or in generations past and those who came here involuntarily, particularly as a result of the trans-Atlantic slave trade.
